Any recommendations out there on a good flats boat? How long and what size engine? Remember, I just want to get there not fly...

I moved this thread because it really doesn't belong in the reports section. I couldn't decide if it belongs in the boating section or the general discussion section.

There are some dedicated flats boats out there like Hells Canyon and others. Do a Google search for others. They are very costly though due to their composition of exotic materials like graphite, etc. Some are so light and beamy they will float on a damp towel!

I am looking to get a 17'8" Carolina Skiff myself. They are strong, beamy and relatively inexpensive. There are a lot around so I should be able to find a used one that is reasonably priced.

If you are looking to buy a dedicated expensive flats boat..with this economy.....now is the time!

I saw a Sterling flats boat yesterday. Tunnel drive with a jack plate.
Impressive looking boat that could get into some real skinny water.
